The Company
Opportunity to join a progressive industrial manufacturing company based in Pyle. Be part of a world leading company in their field. The company has been in operation in South Wales for over 70 years and is now part of a larger international group. Looking for a new team member in their busy production department.
The Role
This is a key position within a small chemicals manufacturing unit. You will report to the site Operations Manager. The role is a hands-on position managing the shift and leading a small shift team as well as managing communications between the shift supervisors and the wider team.
This is a permanent full-time position working a 40 hour week. It offers a 2 shift system working 07:00AM - 03:00PM week 1 and 10:00AM - 06:00PM week 2 then repeat.
Duties will include:
- Complete responsibility for shift including personnel
- Cover holidays and sickness within your own shift whilst still meeting production targets
- Liaise with OM and other shift supervisors
- Full responsibility for personnel safety on shift
- Ensure correct PPE is worn at all times by anyone entering the production areas
- Full responsibility for plant cleanliness and tidiness
- First line responsibility for discipline
- Ensure all your shift personnel receive the correct training and supervision
- Meet production targets for shift
- Properly take ownership and handover each shift
- Responsible for all required M3/IT transactions
- Communicate information to your shift
- Report all breakdowns and, where appropriate, fix minor breakdowns
- Ensure production laboratory is kept tidy at all times
- Ensure correct storage of laboratory chemicals
- Ensure welfare areas are kept clean and tidy
- Participate in H&S committee when meetings/inspections fall on your shift
- Complete shift production log
Requirements
The successful applicant will have the following experience, skills and qualities:
- Previous supervisory experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Experience in a chemical or similar environment would be advantageous but not essential
- Competent in running a production line or unit
- Good problem-solving abilities and basic electro/mechanical knowledge for production equipment, pumps/valves/lines, and packing units
- Solid communication skills, written and verbal, at all levels within the company
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database functionality
- Strong supervisory skills are essential, including people management skills
- Self-motivated and a solid team player
- Ability to delegate tasks and responsibility
- Ability to train staff when required
- Experience in personnel resource management to meet production demands
- Knowledge ISO9001/14001/18001 regulations and procedural aspects required
